You will supervise all key operational areas, managing staff resources, operations and activities at the Pavilion Leisure Centre.

Previous experience of leading a team in a busy leisure environment is essential.

You should ideally hold the National Pool Lifeguard qualification and a First Aid qualification. A Supervisory and Pool Plant Operator’s qualifications would be an advantage or be prepared to achieve these as a condition of appointment. Training will be available.

£19,392 per annum, 40 hours per week including evening and weekend shifts.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
MAIN PURPOSE:
To work with the General Manager/Assistant General Manager to ensure the efficient day to day operation and activities at the centre.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
To assist the General Manager in managing the daily operation of facilities and the organisation of activities, to ensure that the overall service complies with company policies and standards.
To assist with the overall function of Reception and ensure that an appropriate level of service is maintained together with a high level of customer satisfaction.
To be responsible as Duty Manager during the centre’s opening hours with full supervisory control over the staff and responsibility for the operation of the Centre.
To assist the General Manager/Assistant General Manager in implementing Quality Management Systems, maintaining operational standards, records, systems and financial procedures.
Assist with the organisation of all activities, groups and events/special programmes.
Maintain effective and efficient channels of communication between customers, staff and contractors.
Ensure that all reasonably practicable steps and precautions are taken to meet requirements of H&S at Work Act and company H&S procedures.
To be part of the keyholder Duty Manager Team across the facilities, responsible for security, emergency call-outs and serious incidents.
To monitor Pool Plant and equipment and take corrective action to meet swimming pool and facilities environmental standards.
To take responsibility for technical liaison, maintenance defects, cleaning programmes and issues in support with the Assistant General Manager.
To monitor and supervise work standards of front line operational staff ie: Recreation & Senior Recreation Assistants, receptionists, catering and buzz zone staff and cleaners.
To work at other leisure facilities, centres and sites across the area and Group as necessary.

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Proven planning, decision-making and organisational skills.
Well-developed communication skills.
Ability to lead, enthuse, supervise and motivate the work of the team and others.

KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of Leisure Facilities operations, including health and safety, reception, cash handling and customer service.
Knowledge of Pool Plant operations, water features and equipment in Leisure Centres.

EXPERIENCE
Experience of working effectively as a team member.
Experience of the operations and tasks related to the day-to-day running of leisure facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS
You should hold NPLQ, First Aid, Pool Pant Operators and Health & Safety qualifications/certificates or be working towards these qualifications.
ISRM Supervisory/Management, NVQ level 3 Sport & Recreational and Basic Food Hygiene would be an advantage.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Involves moing, evening, weekend and bank holiday work as part of the necessary duties.
Must be able to attend meetings throughout the borough as necessary.
