The bar and pub jobs industry provides hundreds of thousands of part time, temporary and second jobs to people throughout the country. Senior careers in the industry are often attained through a process of "working your way up"... through loyalty and demonstrating the aptitutde to lead teams effectively.
Over the last year or so pubs and clubs have seen a downturn in trade due to the smoking ban and a wider economic slowdown. Some larger chains have had problems realising their financial potential as both their revenue and their property assets have not developed the way they would in a more positive economic climate.
